What is a template?

A basic template is a page layout for your listing. You get a page of html code for the basic listing, into which you put your photo or text content. You may also get:

  • background images
  • button images
  • header image
Sometimes a complex header comes sliced for quick loading. In this case it would also contain a table for you to use to reassemble the image. Templates are cheaper than listings because you do the installation instead of the designer. If you cannot install a template without help and you need to pay the designer for that help, it will probably cost as much if not more than you would have paid by getting a custom listing designed for you.

What is a custom listing?

A custom listing is created for you from your content and according to your color and image preferences. The cost of a custom listing will vary depending on how much image work you want done. If you buy a custom listing from me, you will get a page of code that is ready to paste into your Listing Edit window. In order for me to provide you with this, you will need to have already created all the niteflirt buttons you intend to use. You will also have to provide me with all the photos you want me to incorporate.

Should I buy a template?

I bought a template and installed it last year. It was a “wow, that was hard” experience. Installing a template is a project requiring intermediate level html skills. If you are not comfortable copying and pasting, editing code by hand on your listing, or have difficulty getting things to come out right when you follow instructions, a template is not for you. You need a custom listing.

How do I install a template?

When you buy a template, you should get simple straightforward installation instructions from the designer. Sometimes the instructions are within the template itself, and sometimes they are in a separate instruction sheet. If you have difficulty with editing html code by hand, you will have difficulty installing the template without additional support.

Can I edit my template in my html editor?

No, don’t do this. It can mess up the code in unpredictable ways. I cannot provide free support to troubleshoot this and fix it for you.

I installed my template and it doesn’t work.

I test each template before sending it to you. However, if there is a problem with my work, I will fix it at no charge to you.

Can you go into my account, create buttons for me, and install the template?

I can. Will I? No. This is a big No-no to Niteflirt.

I got the template, what do I do first?

Unzip the folder.

What kind of instructions do you provide on template installation?

When you buy a template from me, I provide you with detailed written installation instructions. These instructions are also available as a payment mail at a reasonable price, should you have a template you bought elsewhere that you are having difficulty installing.

I’m having trouble with the instructions, help!

If you bought a template from me and installation issues you are having cannot be resolved within an email or 5 minutes of IMs, you will have to call me on a special Niteflirt help line I provide to you at the time of delivery of the template. Hopefully we should be able to decide what you need within a short call. Further work I need to do will be billed at $20.00 an hour and sent to you in a payment mail. Remember, if the problem is with my workmanship, the support is free.

Can you code my buttons for me and insert button images?

I can do this for you on one condition. The buttons need to be created and on your listing. You will need to replace the standard Niteflirt button image with a text title for the button. It should look something like this on your page:

I’m having other problems…

I can help you with the following issues at $30 an hour. There is a line you can call to talk to me at this price. After we decide what work needs to be done, other work will be delivered in a payment mail based on how much time I spent working on it.

  • Help with installing somebody else’s template
  • Debugging wonky html code
  • Reducing listing character size to bring it within Niteflirt’s limit

Can you do slideshows?

I can do custom slideshows, buttons, and some other flash work. Billing is at $30 an hour.

Things I can't help you with

  • Anything involving javascript, java, php, or asp
  • Photo work specifically requiring Photoshop
  • Animation work requiring Adobe Flash
  • Shopping carts and other members areas stuff
